CE promotional activities attain smashing success

At the beginning of the winter semester 2006/2007 the Campus Europae team at the University of Hamburg, in close cooperation with the Student Council, organized Campus Europae info-days in the department for Education. Representatives from 6 of the CE partner Universities joined the information days, bringing along substantial promotional materials, high spirit and spring weather to Hamburg.

The aim of this event was on the one hand to inform individual students who might be interested in going abroad how wonderful it is to study in other European countries, what the main outlines of study regulations at CE universities are and how the living conditions for students are (e.g. dormitories, living costs, transportation etc).  On the other hand the University of Hamburg was interested in finding out how high was the interest of its students in studying abroad.  To achieve these aims a kind of CE-market had been organised where every country had a table to present its university.

The outcomes of this initiative can be summarized as follows:

  1. Names and e-mail addresses of more then 60 students showed that studying abroad is an issue at stake in the Hamburger Department of Education.
  2. The most popular place of destination proved to be Sweden (the University of Orebro) with more then 40 interested students.
  3. The second popular university is the University of Alcala followed by Kaunas, Aveiro, Lodz, Limerick and Riga.

These findings were discussed at the Teacher Training Subject Committee meeting that took place in Hamburg on the 3rd and 4th of December 2006. All universities participating in the meeting expressed their willingness to exchange students in the next academic year 2007/2008. It was decided to complete the selection procedure till the beginning of February 2007.
